Sea Foam Salad

Click here ---> for the printable version and more recipes from us!

Do you have an event coming up you need a yummy salad for?  Or you could make it for dinner tonight-- We had a family dinner this last week-end and I made one of our family FAVORITES!!  I got this recipe from my Mother- in- law when I was first married....32 yrs ago, and it's still one of my go to salads.  It works up pretty fast, and is always a hit with everyone.  Here's what you'll need.....
1 quart of pears- lrg. box Jell-O- cream cheese & whipped cream.  You can use cool-whip, but you all know how I feel about that!  I always use cream & whip my own- it's just BETTER!!  You can use any flavor of Jell-o, our favorites are lime (so it looks like sea-foam) or strawberry.
And this is what it looks like...

I hope this becomes one of your Family Favorites too!!

* Note when it says "blend" in the recipe it means put them in the blender to mix together! :)

Dippin' Oreo's

Okay I have a tip for you today!!!  I was dipping an oreo the other night... it's a bad habit, everynight I start craving something sweet! And there just happened to be oreo's in the pantry... so you know the rest of the story! :)   Anyway- when my youngest son (who is now 25) was little- he hated dipping his fingers into the milk with an oreo dunk.  So he would stick a fork into the cream filling and dip them.  It's crazy that after all these years, I still have to use a fork! LOL Just a crazy little tip for you today, but I promise if you try it, you will forever be a fork dipper!!   Just sayin'

Valentines Jars

I know these don't look like Valentine's Jars..... they're not!!  It's still winter inside (and outside) our house!!  I've re-filled these jars a couple of times-- I used to have the white cheddar puff balls in the tall one, but we LOVE them too much around here & have gone through a whole GIANT container of them!  I couldn't stand an empty jar, so out came the mini marshmallows!  The other jar has white cotton candy -I balled it up like snowballs -- they are fun on the counter, but........

as much as I like the snow... I am ready for a change, so remember the sugar wafer cookies I dipped a few days ago?

Well, I decided to add a little bit of Valentines to the kitchen- and I loved them on this glass domed plate!

I grabbed a few jars I had and filled them with a little bit of red, pink & white- tied a few bows and LOVE how they turned out!!  Happy Valentines Day!!!

Angry Birds Star Wars Valentines

My son is obsessed with anything angry birds! So when I asked him what he wanted to give out this year he, without hesitation, said angry birds STAR WARS! I thought, Hey... I can make that!
All you need to do is go to the dollar store and grab some glow sticks. I was able to get 8 for a dollar. Then printout the free image. Make a cut with a knife right by the light sabor
Thread the glow stick through the hole and tape it down in the back... Be careful not to snap the glow stick or it will start glowing!!

There you have it folks!

Valentine Chocolate Dipping

Today I have some easy, quick, yummy treats for you to make for Valentines Day.  Actually you can change these up- using different colors and they will be perfect for a lot of different holidays!

The first ones are chocolate dipped sugar wafer cookies. Keebler has a new cookie out, I bought some last week and decided to try making some.... the keebler ones are yellow sugar wafer cookies dipped in milk chocolate- and yes the little boys & I decided they are one of our favorites!!!    To make them, just take your sugar wafer cookie- (you can buy them at most grocery stores) and dip them into chocolate, I used pink cookies for Valentines Day- so I only dipped 1/2 of them and let the pink show too.  Then put some sprinkles on top!

The next ones are chocolate dipped fortune cookies. I bought my cookies at the dollar store.  Dip 1/2 of the cookie into white chocolate, add sprinkles & drizzle with pink candy melts.  Easy, and the little boys had fun making them.

Let them dry, and put them on a platter and....... you have a perfect Valentine's Day Treat!!!

Crochet Fleece Blanket

I'm back to show you a new take on the fleece blanket!

Get your fabric of choice. I made this for my newest nephew who's dad is a HUGE 49ers fan.

Cut of the white printed piece. Do it, it makes the blanket look tons better if you do!

On each corner of the blanket cut a 3"x3" square off.

Next fold over each side 2"

Sew each 2" side with a zigzag stitch. After each side is sewn, cut strips all away around the blanket about 1/4"-1/2" thick. Also cut them 1/4" away from the zigzag stitch.

Once you have them all cut you can start crocheting the blanket. I used a size K hook. I started from one corner and worked my way around the blanket. It went pretty fast! Once you get to your starting stitch take it back to the sewing machine and stitch it down!

There you have it a new take on the fleece blanket! Much nicer than the tie method!
