Easter Egg Hunt with Bunny Bucks & Chick Change!!

This is what we did last year- 2013 for our Easter Egg Hunt.  Just print out our Bunny Bucks & Chick Change printables and place them in the plastic eggs...for each child I hid 30 eggs with their name on them- that way I made sure everyone had the same amount of money to spend at the general store.  There were other eggs hidden for them to find too, with miscellaneous little threats in them.  After they find all the eggs then they can take their money to the general store and buy what they want.  I had enough of everything so that they all could get one of everything- It was a blast and the boy's LOVED it so much...  this year we are doing it again.  You can get our free prints here http://theyarecrafty.blogspot.com/2013/03/our-easter-egg-hunt.html  Hope you enjoy them as much as we did... Hoppy Easter!!

Here is a great bundle on amazon that I have used to fill the eggs!

Our Easter Egg Hunt

Grandma Karen always puts on amazing parties and the Easter egg hunt is no exception! Last year we wanted to fill the eggs with other things besides the usual candy because let's face it too much candy is a bad thing! So last year we had "bunny bucks" The bunny Bucks were in the eggs and after the hunt was over the kids were able to purchase items from the general store! We liked it so much that we are going to do it again this year! So we decided to add chick change and some cute general store signs!

We can't keep it all to ourselves though! We want you to have a great Easter egg hunt as well! So here are the free printables for you to use!

Also this past year our eggs have had a rough time keeping up with all the kids... here is a great egg bundle that we found on amazon for CHEAP!!

You have been Egged!

We LOVE Easter around our house! We love the reminder it gives us.

Sometimes we love to egg our neighbors homes too! (with plastic eggs of course)

Not familiar with Easter egging? Well you get 12 Easter eggs, fill 11 of them with treats and leave the 12th egg empty to remind you of Jesus' empty tomb! Hide them all over your neighbors yard. Leave the signs and run! Then watch them try to find all of the eggs!

Once you have been egged, copy and hang the WE have been EGGED" sign in your front window so neighbors know not to egg you!

Here are some cute printables for you to use! Happy Egging!

Easter Party 2012

HAPPY EASTER!! Oh what a wonderful, fun, lovely day. I hope all of you had a Happy Easter- ours was so nice, it is always a lot of work and sometimes while I am trying to get it all put together I wonder if it's worth it..... ahh but then when my whole family arrives- oh how I LOVE it.

I love the vegetables in the glass containers-- makes it look so fresh...and so colorful..

shot glasses with vegetable dip- always looks so cute. Add a carrot with a piece of cilantro for the top & you've got super cute!!

Yummy food is always a hit at the Hamblins-- Ham, funeral potatoes, parmesan green beens (I will post a picture & recipe for them- they were great) BLT pasta salad, fresh fruit salad, rolls, Vegetables & dip, darling carrot cupcakes-- I hope Amy will post pictures about those- and of course orange chocolate dipped strawberries (carrots) and plenty of treats....

heres a close-up of the carrots (orange dipped strawberries) I love them on these darling cake plates that I found at T.J. max...doesnt the pink poke-a-dot ribbon just make you want to smile!

Donut Bunny Pops

Have you seen the Bunny pops made with mini powdered donuts? I saw some at positivelysplendid.com To make them: first you need to take 2 of the flat marshmallows- (You can find them at Walmart) lay them down, and using a bunnie cookie cutter- cut just the ears out of the marshmallow as shown in this picture.

s
I did mine a little different- I melted white chocolate in a disposible decorating bag, then I piped a little down the center of the ears & used colored sugar sprinkles on top to make it look like a bunny ear. Then cut a toothpick in half & insert in each ear...

Put a stick into the donut- I used striped straws because I thought they looked cute. Poke the ears into the top of the donut, attach a jelly bean with the melted white chocolate, you can put eyes on them or leave them with-out. Tie a bow onto it, and you have a Donut Bunny Pop!!

I made pink, green and yellow ones... they are very cute & very easy to make. Happy Easter!!

Bunny Tails

Good Morning... I have a fun easter topper for you today. I was shopping at Seagull book and found this Cute Easter book. (actually my friend I was shopping with found it.. Thanks Kristy) it was one of my favorites growing up as a child.. So I bought it to read to the little boys this year. Yesterday I thought it would be so fun to make a surprise to give them when we read the book. So I did what I always do... called Jamie & asked her to make a cute bag topper. I LOVE it!! Can't wait to give it to them.

I thought they would be so darling with cotton candy tails inside.. So that is what I did, just buy a package of cotton candy & ball them up to look like tails! (cottontails in this case.) Aren't they adorable.. Do you want some too? We would love to share it with you. To get this cute topper- join our site & become a follower. Then make a comment below-- leave us your email & we will send it to you. Thanks so much! Also to get the "BLING" effect on it I outlined the words Bunny Tails with a glue pen & then sprinkled some green glitter onto it- shake it off and it will sparkle.

Carrot Napkins

A few years ago I saw these cute carrot napkins and we have been making them for our Easter dinner ever since. They are really easy... so let's get started. First take a large orange paper napkin and unfold it so it forms a rectangle like this

Then put your green plastic utinsels in the left hand corner, fold the right corner into the center as shown

Then begin to roll the napkin around the utinsels, pulling it tight as you go- and roll until your napkin is all the way around them in the shape of a carrot...

Take 2 green pipe cleaners- you can use a dark & light one or I used a dark one & a glittery one... because I love a little "bling". You can tie them with whatever you have, ribbon, raffia- I have even used the green star garland before. They will be darling no matter what you use. I cut the pipe cleaners so it looks like the green stuff on carrots!

And look what you have-- they are darling in a glass container or in a basket.. simple & fun. The kids will love them.

I first saw this at Familyfun.com

Chocolate Dipped Peeps

Love peeps? Well... the only thing better than a peep is a CHOCOLATE covered peep! You will soon learn that YES I do LOVE chocolate.... So first take your peeps and poke a stick into each one. I used the lollipop sticks they are a medium length stick, you can find them anywhere that sells candy making supplies. (walmart even has them)

Then dip them into melted chocolate. I like to use the chocolate fountain chocolate but you can use anykind, if you use chocolate chips add a little bit of oil it will help to make it smooth. Make sure the container you use to dip them in is deep enough for the chocolate to cover the whole peep. Dip & tap it on the edge of the cup and then I scrape the backside across the rim of the cup- to take off the excess chocolate.

Place them on parchment paper & put eyes & a nose on them before the chocolate dries. I know what you're thinking.. WOW those are CRAZY EYES! lol a little scarry, I promise they look cute once they are all done. I used pre-made eyes, you can buy them at Michaels or where they sell candy making supplies. The nose is a round sprinkle, but you can use whatever you have on hand...

I like to put them in small plastic bags- however; the plastic reflects the flash on the camera, so I'm sorry for the little bit of glare. Again you can get the bags almost anywhere they have candy making supplies- tape the bag around the stick & tie with a ribbon... see aren't they adorable, crazy eyes and all..

Or you can mix them in with un-dipped peeps and you have a very cute & fun arrangement! You better snap a picture fast though... because they'll go fast!

Easter Surprise part 2

You probably guessed....an Easter egg hunt. But this one had a bit of a twist. I filled the eggs with treats, put them in baskets & attached this sign.

On the back of the sign I wrote a note... to the lucky little people who would find the baskets....

I placed the baskets on the front steps of their houses

Hid all the eggs around the yard, hoping not to get caught! Their Mom's knew I was coming & closed the blinds just in case. :) Then I rang the doorbell and watched as the SURPRISE took place..

They were so darling... it didn't take the littlest one long to figure out which ones had the good stuff in them--- Jelly Beans!!!

Easter Carrots

These are one of our favorite things to make for Easter. The first year I made them I filled them with jell-o popcorn, then the next year I used cheetos, but the last 2 years I have filled them with goldfish crackers. I like to displayed them in this glass jar- they're easy & always a hit with kids & adults too.

Here are the supplies that you will need to make the carrots...

And this is what the look like ...

So first you fill your triangle shaped clear bag with the goldfish- then take some green easter grass & fold it in half like this

Then stuff it into the bag, you can't really see it- but the bag comes up over the bottom of the grass, this helps to hold it in place.

then take a piece of green ribbon and tie it around the bag securing the grass inside. It ties up really nice & tight...

And finally this is what you end up with.. the cutest little carrot on the block!
